What you need:
Zip seal sandwich bags
Corn Starch
Vinegar
Food coloring or liquid watercolors
Baking soda
Paper towels
Corn Starch
Vinegar
Food coloring or liquid watercolors
Baking soda
Paper towels
Instructions:
Paint Bags
- In each bag, mix a few teaspoons of corn starch with vinegar. I do not typically measure the ingredients.
- Add a few drops of food coloring or liquid watercolors for color.
- Fill the bag at least 1/3 of the way with the liquid chalk mixture. The fuller the bags are the bigger the explosions will be.
- Mix each bag before playing as the cornstarch will settle at the bottom of each bag.
Soda Bombs
- Place the baking soda in the middle of a paper towel, and fold the paper towel all around it. There is no need to measure the more baking soda you use for each bag the bigger the explosion.
When you are ready to start quickly toss a baking soda bomb into a paint bag. Then VERY quickly seal the bag. It is best to have the bag mostly sealed before adding the baking soda bomb. Be sure to make sure the bag is completely sealed. If there is even a tiny hole the bag won't POP. Once sealed shake it up REALLY good and then set the bag down on the driveway or sidewalk.
And have fun!

The exploding sidewalk chalk is non-toxic and is easily cleaned off of the driveway, sidewalk and your child.
XOXO
