How to Make a 3D Chandelier & Printable Template

What You Need:

  • A large cardboard box or empty frozen pizza box
  • Chandelier Template
  • Pencil or marker
  • Poster board
  • X-acto Knife and scissors
  • Ruler
  • Glue gun
  • Paint of choice

What To Do:

Step 1
Create a template.  Fold poster board in half. Using only half, draw the chandelier. Once your drawing is completed, using your x-acto knife cut out the template.

Step 2
Trace a chandelier on to the cardboard. You can use a temporary adhesive to attach the template if you want. Sometimes this can be a huge help!
You could also use transfer paper or a transfer pen to transfer the chandelier outline onto the cardboard.
*Don't forget - You have to trace the template two separate times

Step 3
Again using your X-acto knife cut out your cardboard chandelier. This can be the tedious part of the project, since you must cut it out twice.
Step 4
Using ONE chandelier cut out only, find the center of your chandelier and draw a line straight down the middle and then cut along the line.

Step 5
With the other chandelier: Take a pen or marker and mark a line down the middle on both sides. Then take the hot glue gun and apply a line of hot glue over the drawn line and quickly place half of the other chandelier into the line of glue, make sure that the piece is standing straight up while the glue dries.

Once you are done with one side, repeat these steps on the other side of the chandelier creating the 3D effect.

Step 6
You can either use craft paint or spray paint. I prefer spray paint as it is quicker to apply.
Once this step is complete you can embellish your chandelier.

Embellishment Ideas:
  • rhinestones
  • glitter
  • flocking
  • dimensional paint dots
  • glitter glue
