I absolutely love this recipe because it is super easy and very similar to the real thing.
Ingredients:
3/4 teaspoon (approx. 72 drops) Wintergreen Essential Oils (Where to get)*
1/2 teaspoon (approx. 50 drops) Camphor (Where to get)
1 1/2 oz (3 tablespoons) Coconut Oil (Where to get)
1 oz (2 tablespoons) Cocoa Butter (Where to get)
1 oz (2 tablespoons) Beeswax (Where to get)
3 drops Vitamin E Oil (Where to get)
20 Lip Balm Containers (Where to get)
Medicine Syringe (optional) (Where to get)
*The "where to buy" links provide you with the information on the products I use to make this lotion and many other DIY home & body products.
Melt the Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter, Beeswax, and Vitamin E Oil in a double boiler.
Once melted, add wintergreen oil and camphor
{If you’re not a big fan of the wintergreen scent, you can easily use another scent. Or, if you don’t want to use as much wintergreen and camphor oil as I did, just use less drops of both}
Using the syringe fill the chapstick tubes.
Once the chapstick hardens, add a few more drops of your melted mixture to the top of the chapsticks – this will even off the tops and make them look nice and finished!
Clean Up:
Once you’ve finished filling your chapsticks, place the tip of your syringe in the lukewarm water in the hot water from the double boiler.
Swirl around for a few seconds and then empty into a paper towel. Do this a few times until your syringe is clean.
Before you wash your glass container and spoon, wipe them down with a paper towel.
