Dutch Apple Pie

I had a bag of red apples just sitting around the house that no one had eaten.  So, I decided to make a pie.  As  you can see this one was a huge hit! I hope you enjoy it as much as my family did!

Ingredients:
  • Either 1 homemade pie crust or 1 ready-made pie crust
  • 5 1/2 cups peeled, cored & sliced cooking apples
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Topping:

  • 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine, room temperature


Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F
  2. Fit pie crust into pie plate
  3. In a large bowl, mix sliced apples, lemon juice, both sugars, flour, cinnamon & nutmeg
  4. Pile into pie crust
  5. Prepare topping
  6. In a medium bowl, with a blender or a fork, mix flour, both sugars and butter until corsely crumbled
  7. Sprinkle evenly over apples
  8. Bake for 50 minutes
