Workout Video Comparison and Healthy Human Product Feature

Anyone who knows me, knows I can become rather impatient when working out. Like most people, if  I'm running or working out I would love to see results immediately. But, we all know that is not reality, otherwise we'd all be fit and in shape.

However, despite not being able to achieve immediate results, there are things you can do to maximize the time you do spend working out. Running alone was no longer resulting in weight loss for me. So, I  began to incorporate different workouts along with my running to achieve greater results.

Being a stay-at-home mom, it's not always practical to pack up and go to a gym, so I've been trying Fitness videos both purchased and free.

Here's what I have found so far:

Body Beast by Beachbody
This was a purchased video

This is an intensive weight lifting workout video that is set up to achieve maximum results in 90 days. With this program, I received a Body Beast DVD, a 90 day workout schedule and the Book of Beast that offers tips, suggestions & recipes.

I was really attracted to this program initially because a stay at home mom was part of their infomercial and she said she was able to do this workout with a little one running around, which was exactly what I was looking for.  I also needed a program that did not require a ton of equipment because there's only so much stuff you can haul into your living room.  I also was looking for a weight lifting program that easily go along with my current running.

I'm in the middle of my second week of this program. So, I still have quite a ways to go. I follow the included workout schedule as designed to a "T." This video is structured like every other workout video you've ever seen, but if you are able to over come the sheer annoyance of the talking on the video, the exercises are really good.  During my first week, I could barely lift my arms or walk, but it has progressively become easier, so I know I am getting stronger. I have also noticed slight toning in my appearance, so I am encouraged to continue the program.  After going through the program 2 weeks, I did decide I would do my own ab and cardio workout. This program just did not push those areas enough.

Body Beast by Beachbody Overall Summary:
Positives
Great workout program
Ability to challenge yourself
Results definitely noticeable in a short amount of time
Not a lot of equipment needed

Negatives
Typical annoying workout video
Geared more towards men

Fitness Blender
Free on YouTube

I was so excited to find fitness blender on YouTube. Not only is it free, but there are no fancy gimmicks and it's not the typical annoying workout video.

You're able to choose from hundreds of workouts based on how you are wanting to work out. They have specific muscle group workouts (like abs), yoga, Pilates, cardio. They also offer the option of no equipment workouts.

I can't speak highly enough about fitnessblender.com and I highly recommend it. They have something for everyone even if you're in a hurry. And, it's easily accessible so you can do it anywhere.

When doing workouts of any kind staying hydrated is very important. My friends at Healthy Human sent me the 20 oz Cruiser Tumbler and 21 oz Stein Water Bottle to try. Can I say these are by far the coolest beverage containers I have ever had?!?

My husband and I got so excited as we were unpackaging the Cruiser Tumbler and the Stein. It was so easy to tell the quality of this product just by the touch and sight.  These are a durable product.

The Cruiser Tumbler
The Cruiser is great for water, tea, coffee, wine, beer, juice, smoothies, soup and can be used  everyday at the gym, office, for travel, School, sports... just about anywhere.

The Cruiser is fantastic. I put ice water in it around 2:00 in the afternoon and the same ice was still there at bedtime. I love not needing to refill the ice and having a cold beverage ready and waiting.

This was my ice at 10:00 pm

Getting Swimsuit Ready: Workout Diary Series -- WEEK 5

WEEK 5

This week I had to pull back on my running a bit due to my tendon on the top of my foot/shin hurting. It looks like I need to be doing some more calf stretches.  So, I decided to incorporate an ab workout (without crunches) in addition to my light cardio.

As I have said before, being able to have time to workout with a 2 year old that doesn't like naps can be challenging. So, I really like this ab workout.  No weights are needed.  I can do this workout in the living room while the little plays.  I even convienced her to do the exercises with me and it is the perfect way to work on counting.
But, my favorite part of this ab workout is that there are NO crunches!

1.  Side Plank - hold 60 seconds repeat 3x's
2. Alternating Toe Touches - (15) repeat 3x's
3. Flutter Kicks - 60 seconds repeat 3x's
 4. Elbow Plank - hold 60 seconds repeat 3x's
5. Russian Twists - (20) repeat 3x's
6. Knee Extensions - (20) repeat 3x's

These are great exercises that will really make a difference.

What do you wear when you workout?  Do you remember when workout clothes consisted of sweatpants, sweatshirts or leotards with leg warmers? Workout fashion has come so far since then.  There is no reason you can't look good while running, cycling, or going to yoga class. One of my new favorite workout clothing companies is Carbon 38.  They have a huge selection of workout fashion.  You can choose pieces specifically for your desired activity or just choose pieces that you love.

HEROINE SPORT V BRA

HEROINE SPORT CYCLING PANT

I absolutely love the quality and the fit of this outfit.  The pieces are true to size, so just follow their sizing chart. The studio jacket is my favorite piece.  It is made of soft high quality material. It will be perfect for cool morning runs.  The sports bra, is adorable and an awesome addition to this outfit. However, does not offer great support for running, but would be perfect for cycling or yoga.  The pants have a adorable unique print and provide good support for any activity, all while adding a bit of style.  Carbon 38 is definitely a company to check out for your next workout outfit.

Please be sure to check out next week's post as I have added an arm workout to the mix.

Getting Swimsuit Ready: Workout Diary Series -- WEEK 4

Please join me on  Instagram and Facebook to keep up with our most recent projects and sneak peeks!

Week 4 was an awesome week for me, despite Easter on Sunday and my kids being home Monday for their last day of Spring break.  I was able to get in a run 5 miles on Saturday, which was awesome and my furthest run so far.  I have to say that my run felt great!

However, it is becoming more of a struggle to run further.  Running further,  results in more time spent running. And, having a 2 year old that is wishy-washy about nap time anyway presents a bit of a struggle to get my run in during that time without the extra time from running a greater distance.   Unfortunately, my only other time that I can squeeze in a run is after putting the all of  the kiddos to bed and honestly who feels like running or working out after a full day already.  But, that's a #momlife.

This week I was able to incorporate a new pre-workout supplement.  Fit Chicks Supplements Jar of Energy.  Energy in a Jar is engineered to help women accomplish all their fitness goals with energy, focus, strength, and stamina.

Jar of Energy comes in 3 flavors
Fruit Punch
Berry
Cherry

The powder mixes really well and tastes as you would expect any pre-workout to. It has a decent taste and packs a "punch". I could definitely tell that I used the pre-workout supplement. I felt an added energy while running and did not feel fatigued during the run. I also love that it is also designed for women. I would definitely recommend trying their pre-workout supplements for an added edge to any workout or run.

Next week, I get to share some amazing work out clothing from Carbon 38.  Please be sure to follow along each week as I literally run my butt off all while being a busy mom.

Getting Swimsuit Ready: Workout Diary Series -- WEEK 3

Please join me on  Instagram and Facebook to keep up with our most recent projects and sneak peeks!

WEEK 3:

I started this journey in an attempt to lose weight, get toned and look good in a swimsuit, but it has turned into so much more. I not only feel good about myself for losing weight and for running further than I've never ran before, but most importantly I found an outlet to reduce stress, get healthy and give myself a little "mommy time." I have never felt better!

Please don't get me wrong...there's nothing better than putting on your favorite pair of skinny jeans and them being a little big and baggy.  I am so excited to report that I have already lost 7 pounds.  I think I can see a new pair of skinny jeans in my future.  Bribe a girl with new clothes and she can do anything.

I am definitely an amateur runner and constantly learning as I go.  I

With all of my running and my clothes beginning to become baggy, the one thing I don't want big and baggy is my sports bra. Your shoes are not the only thing that you want to give you good support.  I am  a 34 C and there is nothing more uncomfortable than the "girls" bouncing around. It truly can become painful after a while. After trying many different bras in various brands and styles, I have found that Champion® Sports Bras are by far the best. These bras are made with thick durable material that provides great support while working out and running. I now own a couple of them and love each one. They are also very affordable.

My newest sports bra is the C9 Champion® Women's Power Shape Sports Bra from Target. Can you believe that it is only $19.99?  It is definitely worth every penny.

This week was a bit more challenging to get my running in.  The kids were home for Spring Break, which meant less quite time to squeeze in a workout and then there was Easter.  If that wasn't enough, my treadmill stopped working.  But, my amazing husband stepped in and fixed it right away, getting me back to running. I am to the point in running where I am not sore, but a little bit stiff after sitting a while and when I first wake up in the morning. So, despite Spring Break, Easter and a broken treadmill for a day, I still was able to run 15.5 miles.   That's not too shabby if I do say so myself.

Next week, I will be sharing Fat Chick Supplements Preworkout Jar of Energy.
Please share your favorite sports bra brand. I am always looking for good ones. And as always, Please continue to follow my journey as I get swimsuit ready, learn about running and feel the positives  from all of my hard work.

#OOTD: My 1st Fabletics Outfit and Review

We have all seen the commercials for Fabletics featuring Kate Hudson. I apparently could not resist the temptation any longer and finally broke down and ordered my first Fabletics outfit!  So, I thought I would share my experience and what I think of the products for anyone else who is considering a purchase.

First of all, they have a large selection of outfits.  And for the most part, I would wear any of them. For me, I narrowed it down to something that I would not only wear to workout and run in, but something that I could wear around the house.

I joined as a VIP member to get my first outfit for $25.  They give you a questionnaire about where you want to wear your outfit, color preferences, and size preference.

After the completion of your lifestyle quiz, they want a little more information. But, according to this screen as a VIP member your first outfit is 50% off + free shipping. Despite this discrepancy I continued to see what was actually offered.

I looked through many outfits and loved most of them.  I agreed to become a VIP member. And here's how it works...

After clicking 'Start Shopping' this was the pop up.  Again, showing the first outfit being $25 + free shipping.

I browsed through many different outfits and styles before finally settling on one.  This is not the outfit I chose, but an example of what I saw

As you can see, there is a discount given. The regular price of the outfit was $199.85,  VIP members paying $109.95 and first time buyers paying $54.97

I continued to the checkout with a different outfit in my cart to see if the $25 first time buyer price was adjusted at the end.

As you can see, this outfit is not being sold for the advertised $25.  During my outfit search, I did not see a special $25 section of outfits.   I was afraid that I was doing something wrong and finding the promo code or  something.

Here is the disclosure that I found regarding the promotion

*Promotional offer applies to the highest priced item in your first purchase, including Outfits, when you enroll as a Fabletics VIP Member. Free shipping applies to orders of $49.95 before discount. Offer expires after 24 hours and cannot be combined with any other offer.

I continued with my order despite it not being $25.  I was truly curious about the quality of the product.

I ordered the Manuka outfit and paid $29.97.  The quality of the materials is fantastic. The shirt is extremely soft and comfortable to wear.  It is a fitted top so, order accordingly.  The Lima capris are awesome! They are maximum compression fit. They are made of thick polyester and spandex. They will be perfect for running and working out.

I am truly impressed by the quality of the products and would recommend them to others as long as you are aware that the pre-selected outfits are not $25 as advertised.

I hope this walk through and review was helpful to any curious about Fabletics

Vigg Sport Fashion Sandstorm Jacket

Disclosure: I received the product mentioned above for free. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers

As busy mom, comfort and fashion are very import to me. And, as a runner, trendy styles are something I love. Vigg is just that and more!

How many of you have hopped in the car in the morning to take your kids to school in yoga pants?  Wouldn't you like a comfortable and functional outfit outfit that looks put together rather than just something you grabbed out of the closet just because it was clean.

For me Vigg is a lifestyle.  It is a clothing line that I can wear to drop off the kids at school and look put together and when I get home, I can train for a upcoming 5k. My life is not one dimensional, so my clothes shouldn't be either.

The Vigg Sandstorm Jacket is not only adorable, but functional as well.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Sandstorm Jacket has been developed as a light and causal outerwear garment, designed especially for Scandinavian weather. With a loose fit and soft sand color, this comfortable jacket will make a great addition to any outfit. Featuring two pockets, a hood and a waterproof weave, the Sandstorm Jacket is also equipped with every attribute of what shall come.
VIGG was created from the idea of diversity. A lifestyle brand that embraces both sport and fashion through creative design. This hybrid has become the solid foundation of everything that VIGG crafts. The brand draws its roots from Scandinavia, a region that has become the symbol of minimalism and style which has spread across the globe. But even though VIGG still hold onto its roots of minimalistic design, the brand remains international by taking inspiration from everywhere around the world.
